The rules for using Focus Study, in plain English: your trial and licence, what we promise, and what we don't.
Last updated: 2 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Jotwise Limited (company number 16287852, registered office 4 Hednesford Street, Cannock, England, WS11 1DJ) for the Focus Study phone and Windows apps and the account that goes with them (together, "Focus Study"). By creating an account or using Focus Study you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Focus Study.
How we look after your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
You need to be 13 or over to create an account. If you're under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian is happy for you to use Focus Study.
Free trial. Every new account gets 7 days free, counted from the day the account is created. Each email address gets one free trial, even if you delete your account and sign up again.
Licence. To carry on after the trial you need a licence key. A key is entered once, on any device, and then covers your account on all your devices. The length of your licence is set when the key is created, and Settings shows when it ends.
Keys. A licence key is for one person and one account. It can only be used once, and you must not share it, sell it or pass it on. Keys may be supplied by Jotwise or by one of our authorised suppliers. If your key doesn't work, email us and we'll put it right.
If your trial or licence ends. Your tasks and notes are kept and will be there when you add a licence. If you'd like a copy of them, or want your account deleted instead, email info@jotwise.co.uk.
Price and refunds. The price and any refund rights depend on how you got your licence. If it came from one of our suppliers, please speak to them first. If you bought it from us, email us. None of this affects your legal rights.
Focus Study is a tool to help you organise tasks, plan your energy and work in focused sessions. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment, and it isn't a substitute for professional or clinical support, including for ADHD, anxiety or any other condition. Any study support you're entitled to is arranged through your university or college and funding body, not through Focus Study. We can't promise any particular result, such as grades or finishing work on time.
Reminders, notifications and the focus timer depend on your device's settings, battery saving, permissions and, on Android, the "alarms and reminders" setting. They can arrive late or not at all. Please don't rely on them alone for important deadlines.
Connecting a calendar is optional. Focus Study only reads your appointments, never changes them, and doesn't store them on our servers. When you connect Microsoft or Google, their own terms and privacy notices apply to your use of those services. You can disconnect at any time from the Calendar, or remove Focus Study's access in your Microsoft or Google account settings.
The tasks, steps, notes and other things you write in Focus Study belong to you. You give us permission to store them, sync them between your devices and show them to you, and only to run Focus Study for you. You're responsible for what you write, so please don't store anything unlawful.
Please don't:
We own the Focus Study software, name and logo. While you have a trial or licence, we give you a personal, non-exclusive right to use the apps on your own devices for your own use. This right can't be transferred to anyone else.
We'll look after Focus Study with reasonable care and skill and may update it from time to time. You need an internet connection to sign in, sync and check your licence, and the apps carry on working offline for a while using what they last checked. We may need to pause Focus Study for maintenance. If we ever stop offering it, we'll give you reasonable notice and a chance to download your data.
You can stop using Focus Study at any time and delete your account in Settings → Delete account, or see how to delete your account if you no longer have the app. Deleting your account also ends your trial or licence. We may suspend or close an account if these terms are broken, for example by sharing licence keys, and we'll tell you why.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nor do they affect your legal rights as a consumer, including that digital content must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for its purpose.
Subject to that, we aren't responsible for loss that wasn't a reasonably foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, or for missed deadlines, lost marks or similar results of reminders, timers or syncing not working as expected. Our total responsibility to you for anything connected with Focus Study, apart from the matters in the first paragraph, is limited to the amount you paid for your licence.
We may update these terms, for example if Focus Study changes or the law does. We'll put the new version on this page with a new date and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using Focus Study and delete your account.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your local courts. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Focus Study. Nobody else has the right to enforce them.
